Title: Fire in Eastern Oak Forests: Managing Oak Woodlands and Savannas in the Forest-Prairie Region
Project Proposal Abstract: The purpose of the conference is to facilitate the transfer of scientific information and knowledge from successful fire managers to other land managers in the central hardwoods region. This conference builds on the success of three previous Fire in Eastern Oak Forests conferences held in 2000, 2005 and 2008. Similar to the previous conferences, we expect the primary audience to be fire staff, foresters, and biologists from a variety of public land management agencies; 388 people attended the 2005 conference in Columbus, Ohio and about 250 attended the 2008 conference in Carbondale, IL.
