Title: The Influences of Post-Fire Salvage Logging on Wildlife Populations
Project Proposal Abstract: Large fires in recent years have incrased interst in post-fire salvage logging to recoup some of the economic benefits from the forest. However, despite considerable concern and interest, there is relatively little empirical work evaluating the ecological effects of post-fire logging. We propose to evaluate the influences of two intensities of post-fire salvage on populations of small mammals, bats, and birds. Our work will be among the first to use a replicated manipulative experimental design to evaluate wildlife response to post-fire salvage logging.
