Title: Accelerating Adoption of Fire Science and Related Research
Project Proposal Abstract: Recent increases in funding for fire related research have not been accompanied by corresponding increases in the science delivery effort. This has created a backlog of new information that is not being fully applied by managers, regulators, decision makers, or policy makers. Work under this project will develop a clear understanding of the existing set of information, tools, and methods generated over the past few years by JFSP, NPS, and CFSR. It will provide a description of the existing fire science delivery network and recommendations on how to improve it. Project staff will evaluate opportunities and barriers to science delivery from both the research and management sides then develop a plan to demonstrate new ways to deliver information to the fire and vegetation management communities.
